it's interesting how their sexuality made it onto the headline of the article.
That's a good point. The cynic in me says that at some point the phrase "You're only having a go at me for committing fraud because I'm a lesbian" cropped up though.....
That's a bit of a stretch though, isn't it - if they have been caught out commiting a fraud? Would the insurance company even be aware of their sexuality? Doubtful...
It smacked more to me of a paper using their sexuality against them, which, if true, is deplorable. I just don't like the way they're trying to link the crime with their sexuality.
You may well be correct, in which case it is indeed deplorable. And to be fair, the Torygraph is not famed for it love of 'poofs and queers'.
However, do not underestimate the power of 'discrimination', especially if you've been caught breaking the rules, and especially especially if you're in the public sector.
Just look at this guy http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/5653118/Muslim-police-officer-likened-to-Osama-bin-Laden-wins-11000.html
Both ought to be dismissed from anything concerning police work.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it's interesting how their sexuality made it onto the headline of the article. I don't see any reason it should do.

Having looked at that guy, I agree with the basis of his complaint...
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't agree with is £11'000 for hurt feelings - although perhaps there is more to it than that.
Martin.
Absolutely mate, he should not have to put up with insults like that, but 11 grand?
ReplyDeleteMaybe he can buy a razor now...
